After spending much too much time away from my beloved Sharpie, I’m going to try and get back into the habit of whipping up a few comics. As with all things Scrine related, there are no promises, no guarantees.

The time has come once again for the further evolution of Scrine, and it is with a glad heart that I present for your viewing pleasure the newest page in the ever-changing history of our little “home away from home” - The Scrine Comics.
Yes, that’s right. What may or may not have taken millions of years for all of the other forms of life to do, Scrine has been able to accomplish in only a couple. The site once again begins to slowly evolve into something else, as the words gain consciousness, clinging to one another to form shapes and lines and complex patterns that, in the proper light, might very well be mistaken for attempts at art, or at the very least, creative expression.
I think it should come as no surprise that the next phase of Scrine would involve poorly drawn comics, because let’s face it, Scrine is like an unexplored cave filled with a rich source of inspiration more valuable than an entire mountain of bat guano, and that pile is simply begging to be abused in cartoon form.
The idea, I’m thinking, is simple. Sentences are plucked from Scrine and used as the fodder for comics. The sentence might be used as is, or changed in some way. There are no rules here, other than a size limit on the drawing itself. Once I work out all of the details, Scriners would be able to submit their own Scrine Comics. Serial comics might form, such as the story of “Doug”, which thrilled me enough this last weekend to think this whole business up and put it into a form we might all be able to appreciate. Another motivating factor behind this new site is that, while I loved the comics appearing in Scrine, I was also a little put off by it. Scrine, at least the main page itself, is about the sentences, and I would kind of like to keep it that way. I love that big collection of single sentences just as it is and would rather not see it cluttered up with a bunch of pictures. On the other hand, I want to see Scrine sentences come to life in some other form, and so I think The Scrine Comics could just end up becoming another fun place to visit.
I am certainly open to suggestions at this early stage of the game, so if you have something to say, please, by all means, speak up. Email me or use the contact form to the left.
More than anything else - enjoy!
